ELON, N.C. – Coming off a three-match road stretch, the Elon University men's soccer team returns to its home pitch at Rudd Field to host Colonial Athletic Association foe James Madison on Saturday night, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m.

The Matchup
• The series between the Phoenix and the Dukes is deadlocked at 2-2-3 going back to 2014.
• James Madison has won the last two matchups against Elon with the Dukes taking a 1-0 result over the Phoenix last season in Harrisonburg, Va.
• Elon's last victory over the Dukes came in 2019 as the Phoenix handed then 25
th-ranked JMU a 1-0 setback in its season finale.

• The Phoenix earned a 1-0 victory on the road at College of Charleston on Saturday, Sept. 18 to improve to 2-0 during Colonial Athletic Association play this season.

Jack Edwards scored the lone goal of the contest for Elon in the 27
th minute. The Oak Ridge, N.C., native scored off an assist from freshman
Petro Klishch, his first helper of the season.

• Through its seven games, Elon (4-3, 2-0 CAA) holds an 8-7 advantage in goals scored over the opposition, averaging 1.14 goals per match.
• Edwards leads the Phoenix with his three goals and six total points. Each of his goals this season have been game winners with Edwards being tied for the national-lead in that category.
• Statistically, Elon is one of the top defensive teams in the CAA, allowing only 1.00 goals per game, which is second in the league.
• Elon has taken 85 shots this season with 34 of those coming on target at 40 percent. Five players have posted double-digit shot totals with Edwards and
Mason Duval tied for the team-lead with 12.

Peter Wentzel made the start in goal versus College of Charleston and posted his third shutout of the season. The redshirt junior leads the CAA in goals-against-average at 0.39, which is 15

Scouting James Madison
• James Madison comes into the matchup on Saturday with a 6-2 ledger and a 2-0 mark in the CAA so far in 2021. The Dukes were receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll and have been receiving votes or ranked inside the top 25 for 14 consecutive weeks.
• The Dukes are coming off a 1-0 double-overtime win over its intrastate foe Virginia on Tuesday. It was James Madison's first win over Virginia since 1980.
• As the reigning three-time defending CAA champion, James Madison was selected as the favorite in the 2021 CAA Preseason Poll.
• JMU has scored 13 goals so far in 2021 with forward Luca Erhardt pacing the squad with three. He and Rodrigo Robles are tied for the team-lead in points with seven.
• Martin Leu has spent the majority of time in goal for the Dukes, spending 463 minutes in between the posts. He has a 1.36 GAA and has made 16 saves.
