Tristen Cox was named one of 50 student-athletes to the Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA) 24
th Annual Academic All-Star Team.
In order to be recognized as an FCS ADA Academic All-Star, a student-athlete must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 in undergraduate or graduate study and must have been a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. They must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. They also must have participated in at least 50 percent of the games played.
Cox is a graduate student with a 3.63 grade point average. A team captain, Cox played in 10 games during the 2021 fall season, starting nine times. He finished the season with 15 tackles, 1.5 for loss, 0.5 sack, two quarterback hurries and two pass break-ups. He had four tackles against both Wofford and William & Mary, and added a quarterback hurry and pass break-up in the win at Maine.
Cox led Elon to a record of 6-5 overall and 5-3 in CAA Football play. The Phoenix defeated a pair of ranked teams, defeating then-No. 22/21 Richmond and closing the year with a win over then-No. 25 Rhode Island.
