RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman Max Mackinnon of the Elon University men's basketball team was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Co-Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday, Dec. 26.
 
Mackinnon earned weekly honors after his strong showing at No. 18/21 Indiana last Tuesday. The Brisbane, Australia, native scored a game-high 19 points against the Hoosiers while going 6-of-11 from the floor while also leading the maroon and gold with six rebounds. The 19 points were the second-highest scoring outing for a true freshman against the Hoosiers this season, with Kansas' Gradey Dick scoring 20 points against Indiana on Dec. 17.
 
Mackinnon has scored 18-plus points in four out of his past six games, averaging 15.7 points per game during that stretch. He shared the league's Rookie of the Week accolades with Northeastern's Jared Turner.
 
Elon opens CAA play on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Drexel with tipoff set for 4 p.m.
