ELON N.C.-- Elon women's basketball extended its win streak to three on Friday, Feb. 18 when it downed Hofstra 66-53. The victory also marked the Phoenix's second season sweep against a conference opponent this season.
"Tonight was a well-rounded team effort and win," said head coach Charlotte Smith. "This will give us great momentum for the next two home games. We played with a lot of confidence and were able to sustain our lead throughout the contest."

THE RUNDOWN
-Hofstra took an early 6-0 lead, but Elon went on an 8-0 run to go up by two with 3:34 left in the opening quarter. The Phoenix went on to outscore the Pride 6-2 in the final two minutes to take a 16-14 advantage at the first break.
-Three pointers from
Peyton Carter and
Kayla Liles gave Elon a six-point lead (22-16) less than three minutes into the second quarter. The Pride managed to come back to tie the game at 22 with 5:15 remaining, but the Phoenix would not give up the lead. A 7-2 run in the remaining 2:15, including a three from Liles in the final seconds, sent the Phoenix into halftime with a six-point advantage (33-27).
-The maroon and gold went on a 10-0 run to extend its lead to 12 (43-31) with 4:06 left in the third period. Both teams were scoreless in the final 1:12 to make the score 45-35 going into the fourth quarter.
-Elon went on a 6-0 run to push its lead to a game-high 13 points (51-38) with 7:16Â left. The Phoenix then held the Pride to just six points in the final four minutes in addition to adding 12 points to its score to sail to a 13-point victory.

NOTES
-Liles paced the Phoenix with 17 points, shooting 4-of-7 from beyond the arc to finish just one three pointer shy of her career high. She also added seven rebounds, three assists, four steals and one block.Â
-Perpignan ended the night two points behind Liles (15) points while also tying
Bria Harmon for the team high in assists (4) and registering six boards.
-Harmon's assists mark a new single-game best.

Evonna McGill finished with 10 points, three rebounds, two blocks and one steal. She has now posted 10 points in three consecutive games.
-
Vanessa Taylor led the Phoenix in rebounds (8) and added two points, two assists and one steal.
-Carter matched her career high points (9). The guard also contributed two rebounds, two assists and two steals.
-Elon has now won five games in a row against Hofstra, owning a 14-3 all-time record.
-Win the win, the maroon and gold stands at 13-9 (5-7 CAA) on the season.
