RALEIGH – The Elon University women's track and field team finished competition on the second day at the Raleigh Relays on Friday, March 25, at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility on the campus of NC State.
Alyssa Sandy ran the second-fastest time in school history in the 100-meter hurdles as the Brooklyn, N.Y., native clocked a time of 13.73 to finish eighth overall in the race.
Jette Beermann jumped into the program's top-10 performance list in the 1,500-meters as the freshman ran a time of 4:27.70 to lead the Phoenix.
Anna Twomey was next for Elon with her time of 4:28.96 followed by
Leandra Lorenz at her time of 4:30.48.
In the 100-meters,
Meghan Wilcox ran a wind-aided time of 11.88 to lead the Phoenix in her 18
th-place standing.
Piper Jons was Elon's leader in the 400-meters with a time of 57.16 while
Milly Heinbaugh ran a time of 58.70.
Kaitlin McGoogan led the Phoenix in the discus throw as the Jamestown, N.C., native posted a best toss of 44.10m in 16
th overall.
On Deck
The third and final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays will begin tomorrow, March 26, with the Phoenix's first event of the day, the women's long jump, starting at 10:30 a.m.
