ELON, N.C.-- Elon University women's lacrosse will face its first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) opponents of the 2022 season this week, hosting William & Mary at Rudd Field on Wednesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. prior to traveling to Towson for a 12 p.m. matchup against the Tigers on Saturday, April 2.

THE SERIES
-The Phoenix is on a four-game winning streak against the Tribe, owning a 5-1 all-time record.

ABOUT ELON
-The maroon and gold is 4-6 on the season, winning its most recent game against Winthrop on March 26 (19-9).
-Against the Eagles,
Gillian Curran paced the Phoenix offense with five goals and six points on the day in addition to totaling a game-best five draw controls. Her goals and points totals matched per career high.

Cierra Hopson and
Bella Feldmann were the other Elon players with hat tricks. Hopson totaled four goals, while Feldmann followed with three. Both players matched their season highs.
-Goalie
Paige Brown led both teams in ground balls with four for a new personal best.
-Collectively, Elon enters the week ranked first in the CAA in goals per game (13.70), points per game (18.50), draw controls per game (15.20) and shots per game (29.30). Curran is also at the top of the conference's individual rankings in draw controls per game (5.00).
-The Phoenix is led by ninth-year head coach

SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
-The Tribe (4-6) fell to East Carolina in its last game on March 26, 6-16.
-Belle Martire and Sam Van Gieson led the William & Mary scoring with two goals apiece, while Serena Jacobs posted a team-high three points with one goal and two assists. Caroline Hertzberg also recorded a team-high five draw controls.
-For her performance last week, Jacobs was tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Week.
-The Tribe was picked seventh in the CAA women's lacrosse preseason poll. Martire was named to the preseason all-conference team for the third consecutive season.
-The head coach of William & Mary is Colleen Dawson.
SCOUTING TOWSON
-The Tigers currently hold a 3-5 record.
-Towson delivered an 11-7 win over Georgetown on March 26. Blair Pearre led the Tigers with four goals, while Kerri Liucci registered a hat trick for a season high. Goalie Carly Merlo also recorded a career-high 16 saves.
-The Tigers were predicted to finish third in the CAA women's lacrosse preseason poll. Rayna Deltuva and Pearre both earned Preseason All-CAA team nods in addition to Olivia Malamphy being named honorable mention.
-Towson will face James Madison on the road in its conference opener on Wednesday, March 30 prior to hosting the Phoenix.
-The head coach of the Tigers is Sonia Lamonica.
