ELON, N.C. - Elon University men's tennis got back in the win column on Wednesday, March 30, defeating Davidson, 6-1, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Daniel Martin got things going for Elon in singles play, making quick work of Maxwell Kachkarov 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets. The win moved Martin to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the No. 2 slot this season. The sophomore has now won nine of his last 10 matches.
- Ben Zipay earned his sixth victory of the season, outlasting Nico Pinzon 7-5 in the opening set before sweeping the second set 6-0. The performance marked the sixth win in eight outings for Zipay and put him at 5-3 in No. 6 singles.
- Kyle Frankel clinched the match for the Phoenix, taking down Alejandro Solares 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. With the win Frankel secured his fifth victory in the No. 1 slot and seventh overall this season.
- Nicholas Campbell continued his strong play of late, defeating Juan Gongora 6-3, 6-3 to extend Elon's lead to 5-0 in the contest. The win was the second in row for Campbell and pushed him to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in the No. 3 slot.
- Camilo Ponce rounded out the singles wins on Wednesday, fighting back to defeat Brooks Green 7-6 in the first set before logging a 6-0 sweep in the second set. Ponce earned his second consecutive win and moved to 6-6 overall with a 5-5 mark in the No. 4 position with the performance.
- The combination of Martin and Chung-Han Tsai led the charge for Elon in doubles play, making quick work of Kachkarov and Pinzon 6-1 in the No. 1 slot. The duo picked up its team-leading ninth doubles win and its eighth in the last 10 contests with the performance.
- The tandem of Ponce and Frankel clinched the doubles point in the match, outlasting Solares and Sam Kavarana 6-4 in the No. 2 position. The victory was the second in a row for the combo and its third overall this season.

UP NEXT
Elon returns to action on Saturday, April 2, when it hosts Norfolk State and Methodist in a doubleheader. The contest against Norfolk State is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., while the matchup with Methodist is set for a 1 p.m. start. Both matches will be played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
