TOWSON, Md. – Elon University women's lacrosse suffered a 20-8 loss to Towson on April 2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead to start the game. However,
Hannah McCarthy scored back-to-back goals to tie the game heading into the second quarter.
-Towson went back up by two in the first three minutes of the period (4-2). Despite goals from
Bella Feldmann and
Cate Mackel, the Tigers maintained its two-goal advantage heading into third intermission (6-4).
-The second half belonged to the Tigers. After holding the Phoenix scoreless in the third quarter, Towson went on a 7-4 run in the final frame to secure the win.
NOTES
-McCarthy and
Bridget Kelly led the maroon and gold scoring with two goals apiece. Kelly's goals marked a new career high.
-
Cate Mackel posted a career-high two assists.

Kailee Follette totaled a team-best two caused turnovers in addition to tying
Sammy Fisher for the team high in ground balls (3). Fisher's ground balls set a new season high. Â

Margaret Stephan paced Elon in draw controls with four on the day.Â
-In goal,
Paige Brown recorded nine saves for her highest single-game save count since the 2019 season when she tallied 12 at Virginia Tech.
-With the loss, the Phoenix falls to 5-7 (1-1 CAA) on the season.
