RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University women's golfer
Annabelle Ackroyd has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 28.
Ackroyd finished solo second in a field of 90 players at this week's Boston College Intercollegiate at Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, Mass. The senior from Calgary, Canada, fired a 54-hole total of 219 (+3) to post her best finish of the fall season. Ackroyd led the field in par-4 scoring average for the week (4.00) and tied for fourth in the field with nine total birdies. Her performance helped the maroon and gold finish second in the team standings.
The solo runner-up at the Intercollegiate was Ackroyd's third top-six result in three tournaments this season, as she finished tied for fifth at the William & Mary Fall Invitational and tied for sixth at the Elon Invitational.
This is the second straight week an Elon player has won CAA Women's Golfer of the Week, as freshman and fellow Canadian
Ashley Lafontaine took home the honor on Sept. 21.
The Phoenix wraps up its fall season on Oct. 9-11 at the Edisto Island Invitational in Edisto Beach, S.C.
