SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Elon University women's golf team is in second place following the conclusion of play Monday at the Terrier Intercollegiate. Wofford is hosting the tournament at the par-72, 6,056-yard Carolina Country Club.
The Phoenix posted rounds of 294 and 300 and is 18-over par for the tournament, only one stroke behind Samford who is in the lead. Annabelle Ackroyd, Annie Wu and
Ashley Lafontaine are all in the top-15 of the individual standings for the team.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Annabelle Ackroyd is in fourth place in the individual standings. The graduate student is 1-over par through the first day after posting rounds of 71 and 74. Ackroyd is leading the team in par-3 scoring (2.75) and is second on the team in birdies (7).
- Rounds of 75 and 73 have Annie Wu tied for eighth place. The sophomore is leading the team in birdies with 9 and par-4 scoring average with a 4.05.
- Back-to-back rounds of 75 put Ashley Lafontaine in a tie for 12th with a 6-over par 150 on the day. The sophomore has a team-best 22 pars.
- Senior Apple Ngamwong made five birdies in the first two rounds and is a tie for 19th with an 8-over par 152.
- Lotte Fox is tied for 24th place after posting rounds of 74 and 79. The senior made a hole-in-one on the par-3 hole 15 in the opening round, carding the only eagle of the tournament.
- As a team, Elon leads the field in par-4 scoring (4.19) and eagles (1) and is second in the field in birdies (31) and par-5 scoring (4.95).
UP NEXT
Play resumes with the third and final round tomorrow morning, where teams will tee off from the first and 10th holes starting at 8:15.
