ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women's basketball team (2-7) heads to Greenville, S.C. on Dec. 14, in their final road matchup before the holidays as they take on Furman. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Timmons Arena.

THE SERIES
- Elon and Furman will meet for the 29th on Thursday in a series that dates back to 1972-73. Elon leads the all-time series versus Furman 17-11.
- Elon has won four straight in the series over the Paladins including the most recent victory on Dec. 13, 2020, when the Phoenix won at home in Schar Center 72-64.
- The Paladins hold a 7-6 edge over Elon when playing in Greenville, S.C.
- The last time the Phoenix fell on the road in the series was on Jan. 25, 2014, in a 66-65 heartbreaker loss at the buzzer.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Phoenix fell in a road setback at UNCG, 52-47, on Sunday afternoon.
- Maraja Pass led the Phoenix for the fourth time this season and tied her career-high in scoring with 16 points where she went 6-for-13 from the floor and shot 80% (4-for-5) from the free-throw line.
- Junior forward Iycez Adams netted 14 points while also tying her career-high 10 boards in her first career double-double. Adams was recognized by her efforts and named the CAA's Player of the Week on Dec. 11.
- Ajia James made her first start of the season adding four points, two rebounds and a steal.
- Five of the nine Elon players that saw action recorded a steal in Sunday's matchup.
- As a team, the Phoenix shot 40% (12-for-30) from the field in the second half compared to UNCG shooting 33.3% (10-for-30).
SCOUTING FURMAN
- The Paladins are 6-5 on the season and are coming off a 61-59 loss on the road at USC Upstate.
- Furman was picked to finish fifth in the Southern Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
- Five Furman players are averaging double-figures and rank among the top 20 in the league in points per game.
- Junior forward Jada Session leads the team averaging 14.5 points per game and averages a league-high 9.5 rebounds per game.
- Sydney Ryan Is averaging 12.5 points per game and leads the team shooting 49.1% from beyond arc.
- Tate Walters is third on the team averaging 12.2 ppg and is ranked second in the SoCon in assists per game with 4.6. Walters was named to the 2023-24 Preseason All-SoCon team after her 2021-22 campaign where she led the league with 137 assists. The redshirt junior missed last season due to an injury prior to the start of the 2022-23 season.
- Niveya Henley averages 12.0 ppg followed by Kate Johnson is fifth on the team averaging 10.5 ppg and ranks No. 3 in the conference averaging 1.0 block per game.
- Furman is led by Pierre Curtis, who enters his first season at the helm of the program following his 10 years as an assistant and associate coach under the team's former head coach Jackie Carson.
EDUCATION DAY IS BACK AGAIN
- The Elon women's basketball team will welcome local elementary school students to campus again this season for a fun-filled Education Day matinee.
- The game this year will be against Northeastern on Feb. 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Schar Center. This marks the second time that Elon held an Education Day since Jan. 27, 2011.
- Last year the program welcomed more than 2,400 elementary school students from 10 Alamance-Burlington School System schools as well as Burlington Christian Academy and The Burlington School. Overall, 3,087 fans attended the game, marking the largest crowd in Elon's Division I era. This was also the largest crowd recorded by the conference last season which helped Elon land second in total attendance with 25,859.
