ABOUT OLD DOMINION
  • Old Dominion went 5-12 in 2022, including an 0-5 record in American Athletic Conference action.
  • A year ago, ODU ranked 31st nationally in save percentage at 45.2 percent.
  • First-year head coach Theresa Walton will make her debut Saturday. Walton was the head coach at Youngstown State for the first two seasons of that program's history and was named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year in 2022 after leading YSU to a share of the league title.
  • Old Dominion was picked to finish seventh out of seven teams in the 2023 American Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Lilly Siskind was a unanimous preseason all-conference selection after recording 57 goals and 20 assists a year ago. She has recorded 113 goals, 48 assists and 161 points in four seasons with the Monarchs.

SERIES HISTORY
  • This will be the first ever meeting between Elon and Old Dominion.

SEASON OPENERS
  • Elon is 6-3 all-time in season openers with the program's last win coming with a 13-9 victory over Campbell to begin the 2021 season.
  • Elon is also 6-3 all-time in home openers, with that 2021 win over Campbell serving as the team's last victory in a home opener.
  • The Phoenix set a program record with 24 goals in a 24-8 home victory over Kennesaw State to open the 2015 season. Elon has scored at least 20 goals in a game just two other times in program history, including last year's 22-20 win over Campbell.
  • Elon has allowed just five goals in a season-opener three times, doing so in a 15-5 victory over Campbell in 2017, an identical 15-5 win over Campbell in 2019, and a 12-5 win over, you guessed it, Campbell in 2020.

FOLLETTE EARNS CAA PRESEASON RECOGNITION
  • Junior defender Kailee Follette was named to the 2023 CAA Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference honorable mention team.
  • Follette played in all 16 games a year ago, starting 15 times. She led Elon with 26 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers.
  • She has started 27 times over the course of her first two years at Elon.

TEAM CAPTAINS NAMED
  • Head Coach Josh Hexter has named senior Julia Dalmass and Ellie Stricker, along with juniors Kailee Follette and Mikaela Buoscio as captains for the 2023 season.
  • Dalmass is a team captain for the second consecutive year and has started all 33 of Elon's games over the past three years. She has 22 career caused turnovers, 32 career ground balls and 25 career draw controls.
  • Stricker started 14 games in 2022 and had 15 ground balls and seven cause turnovers on the season.
  • Follette led the 2022 team with 26 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers.
  • Buoscio has played in 25 games over the past two seasons, recording three goals and three assists in 2022. She was 2-for-2 on free position shots and added nine ground balls, 12 draw controls and four caused turnovers.

GLOBAL IMPACT
  • Over Thanksgiving Break 2022, the Elon lacrosse team spent a week in Greece as part of Elon's commitment to diversity and global engagement.
  • The team spent time exploring the country, visiting places like Athens, Olympia, and the Acropolos, as well as leading lacrosse clinics at different schools.
