Elon, N.C. - The Elon Phoenix (4-3) will take on the UNCG Spartans (2-5) in a home-and-home midweek series with Elon hosting the Tuesday matchup then traveling to Greensboro for the Wednesday contest. Both games will start at 4 p.m.

- The Phoenix lead the all-time series with the Spartans 40-26.
- Elon and UNCG have battled every season since 1999, having played a three-game series every season during the schools' shared time in the Southern Conference.
- The Phoenix swept the Spartans last year in a three-game series.
- Luke Stephenson homered twice in the series last season, including a 4-for-4 day with a home run, a double and two RBI during the 13-6 Phoenix win.
Scouting UNCG
- The Spartans are coming off a series against ACC opponent Notre Dame last weekend. UNCG took one of the three games against the Fighting Irish, a 12-0 shutout victory on Saturday.
- UNCG hit the road to visit another ACC opponent No. 5 Wake Forest last Tuesday, in which the Demon Deacons came out on top 20-2.
- The Spartans were voted to finish third in the Southern Conference following their SOCON Tournament championship last season.
- The Spartans made an incredible run in the SOCON Tournament, winning 6-of-7 games in five days to take the title. UNCG would compete in the Statesboro Regional, falling to Georgia Southern and Texas Tech in back-to-back contests.
- Kennedy Jones and Mitchell Smith were voted to the Preseason SOCON All-Conference first team. Dallas Callahan was voted to the Preseason All-Conference second team as well.
- Jones was named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List.
- Luke Holland leads the Spartans in batting average (.500) in five games played, while Daniel Cerda leads UNCG in batting over seven games (.440).
About the Phoenix
- Elon is coming off a series win against the Akron Zips, taking two out of three games against the MAC opponent last weekend.
- Shea Sprague tossed another standout performance against the Zips. The sophomore pitched another six innings, struck out five and walked none on his way to another CAA Pitcher of the Week performance.
- Sophomore Charlie Granatell turned in his best series of the young season against Akron. Granatell finished the series batting 6-of-14 (.429) with two doubles and two RBI in the Phoenix win on Friday.
- Junior Connor Offshack made his first two starts of the season and the Collegeville, Pa. native did not disappoint. Offshack finished the series with two home runs, one in each start, and has matched his home run tally from a season ago.
- Luke Stephenson got his bat going against the Zips, as he clubbed an extra-base hit in every game of the three-game set. Stephenson completed the series 6-for-11 (.545) and hit his first home run of the season for the maroon & gold.
- Transfer Adam Berry completed the series 3-for-10 at the plate and turned in his best performance of the season Saturday. Berry batted 2-for-4 with two RBI as well as his first stolen base of the season on Saturday.
- The Phoenix combined for 30 hits against the Zips, the most for the Phoenix in a three-game series since last season's series win against Towson when Elon tallied 31 hits.

CAA Honors
- Shea Sprague was named CAA Pitcher of the Week Monday for his performance in the Phoenix 9-1 win over Akron.
- This is Sprague's second consecutive pitcher of the week award. Sprague pitched another six innings, allowing only four hits -- all singles. The southpaw struck out five Zips and walked none.
- Freshman Ryan Sprock was named CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday for his performance at the plate and on the mound.
- Sprock went 1-for-1 against Gardner-Webb last Tuesday with two walks and his first career hit and first Phoenix home run. Sprock took the mound against the Akron Zips on Sunday and allowed five hits in five innings pitched. Sprock picked up the win and threw a season-high 80 pitches in the Elon victory.
Preseason All-Conference
- Elon pitcher Shea Sprague and outfielder/catcher Luke Stephenson were named to the preseason All-CAA team.
- Sprague was one of five pitchers named to the team, while Stephenson earned the designated hitter nod on the team.
- Sprague ranked in the top 76 nationally in ERA, WHIP, walks allowed per nine innings and hits allowed per nine innings a year ago. He was the CAA Co-Rookie of the Year in 2022.
- Stephenson led the CAA with 15 home runs a year ago and ranked in the top seven in the CAA in total bases, slugging percentage and RBI.
