ELON, N.C. – Coming off a singles victory against No. 35 North Carolina State, Daniel Martin has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association's Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday. 
 
Martin defeated Rafa Izquierdo Luque, the No. 75 ranked player in the ITA singles rankings, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 in the No. 1 position on Feb. 26. The junior was one of two Elon players to win a singles match against the Wolfpack. 
 
The win was Martin's first against a player in the ITA singles rankings since joining the Phoenix. The junior has a team-high seven singles wins this season and is 7-3 in the No. 1 spot. 
 
This is Martin's second CAA weekly honor of the season, as him and partner Oskar Antinheimo were named CAA Co-Doubles Team of the Week on Jan. 25. He is also the second Elon player to win CAA Player of the Week this season, as Antinheimo earned the award on Feb. 14. 
 
Martin and the Phoenix return to the courts this weekend for a pair of matches. The Phoenix will face Hampton on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Wofford on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
