RICHMOND, Va. – Coming off her win at the RiverTowne Invitational, junior
Apple Ngamwong has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
Ngamwong shared the individual title at the RiverTowne Invitational with a 3-under par total of 213. She birdied her final hole in Tuesday's final round to get to the winning score. It was the second victory of her college career, as she also won the 2021 Chris Banister Classic.
The Bangkok, Thailand, native was one of six golfers to finish the 54-hole tournament under par. She made 11 birdies on the week, which was tied for the second most in the field. The junior also tied for fourth on the week in par-5 scoring average (4.67) and eighth in par-4 scoring average (4.00).
Ngamwong is the third member of the Elon University women's golf team to be selected as CAA Women's Golfer of the Week. Freshman
Ashley Lafontaine earned the honor on Sept. 21, one week before senior
Annabelle Ackroyd took home the award on Sept. 28. Ngamwong is also the second Elon individual to win a tournament this season, as Lafontaine won the Elon Invitational on Sept. 20.
Elon returns to the course at the UNCW River Landing Classic on March 12-14.
