RICHMOND, Va. – After earning co-medalist honors at the Battle of the Run on Saturday, sophomore
Juan Callejo Ropero has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
Callejo Ropero won the three-team, 18-hole event at Bermuda Run Country Club with a 5-under par 67. He made six birdies on the day and was 4-under par on par-4 holes. He shared the individual title with Wake Forest's Andrew McLauchlan and Davidson's Ethan Hall. The Phoenix placed second in the event behind Wake Forest.
The Madrid, Spain, native becomes the third Elon player to take home the weekly honor this season.
Matthew Doyle has won the award three times and
Garrett Risner has earned it once. This is Callejo Ropero's first career CAA honor.
Elon will next compete at the CAA Championship at Dataw Island in Saint Helena Island, S.C. on April 23-25.
