SAINT HELENA ISLAND, S.C. – The Elon University men's golf team shot its lowest score of the week and the second-best round of the tournament in Tuesday's final round at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship to finish in second place. The tournament was contested at the par-72, 6,998-yard Dataw Island Club in Saint Helena Island, S.C.

Elon posted a 10-under 278 in the final round to pass Drexel and College of Charleston in the team standings. The Phoenix finished the tournament with a 6-under par 858 for its best ever result at the CAA Championship. UNC Wilmington won the team title with a 14-under par 850.
Three Elon individuals finished in the top 10 and all five Phoenix players placed in the top 15.
Matthew Doyle and
Landon Durham both finished in the top five to earn All-Tournament honors. UNCW's Patrick Sparks won the individual title with a 10-under par 206.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Matthew Doyle broke par for the second time in the tournament in his final round with a 1-under 71. He carded four birdies to move up one spot on the leaderboard and tied for third, finishing the tournament with a 4-under par 212. Doyle led the team with 40 pars in the event and also led in par-4 scoring average (3.93). This is his first top-5 finish at the CAA Championship.
- Doyle becomes Elon's best individual finisher at the CAA Championship since William Harwood (2016-19) tied for second in 2019.
- Landon Durham continued his strong performance in the final round as he carded four birdies to post a 2-under par 70 and move four spots up the leaderboard. Durham tied for fifth with a 2-under par 214. The freshman led Elon with 10 birdies and finished second among Phoenix players in par-4 scoring average (4.00). Durham was one of only seven players that carded an eagle in the tournament.
- Durham's finish is the best ever for an Elon freshman at the CAA Championship.
- Bronson Myers heated up on Tuesday as he shot his lowest score of the tournament with a 3-under 69. He shot a 2-under par 34 on his back nine that included three birdies, including two on par-5 holes. He led the team in par-3 scoring average (3.00) for the tournament and tied for the team's best par-5 scoring average (4.50).
- After a slow start, Garrett Risner put together a stellar back nine, as he moved up three spots on the leaderboard to finish in 11th place with a 3-over par 219. Risner carded three birdies in the final round and posted a 1-over par 73.
- Juan Callejo Ropero was on fire for the Phoenix in the final round as he tied Elon's lowest score of the tournament with a 4-under par 68. The sophomore carded a 3-under par 33 on the back nine that included one bogey, three birdies and an eagle on the final hole. He led the tournament in eagles with two.
- The Phoenix led the tournament in par-5 scoring average at 4.62, pars with 176 and eagles with three.
- Elon finished the tournament tied with Drexel for second in par-4 scoring average (4.11) and tied for second with Drexel and Delaware in birdies with 45.
- This is the first time two Elon individuals have finished in the top-five at the CAA Championship since Harwood and Graham Hutchinson (2017-22) tied for second and fifth in 2019, respectively.
- Elon's previous best finish at the CAA Championship on fourth, which the Phoenix achieved on three occasions. This is Elon's best finish in a conference tournament since placing second at the 1999 Southern Conference Championship.
