ELON, N.C. – For the first time since last season's Colonial Athletic Association championship match, the Elon University women's tennis team (14-5) will square off against William & Mary (11-4) on Saturday. The contest is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center in Greensboro.

- Saturday's match will begin with doubles at 1 p.m. and conclude with singles shortly after.

SERIES HISTORY VS. WILLIAM & MARY
- Saturday will be the ninth all-time meeting between Elon and William & Mary. The Phoenix is 1-7 against the Tribe.
- In the most recent matchup between the teams, William & Mary defeated Elon 4-1 in the CAA championship match on May 1, 2022. Olivia Archer scored the lone point for Elon with a singles victory at the No. 4 position. The contest was played as the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
- The Tribe won the last regular season meeting between the teams 5-2 on April 23, 2022, in Williamsburg.
- Elon's only victory against William & Mary came on April 3, 2021, when the Phoenix won a tight 4-3 battle at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon is coming off a strong season in 2022 in which it went 17-9 and finished as the runner-up at the CAA Championship.
- The returnees include graduate Olivia Archer (All-CAA third team in singles); seniors Julie Ball, Shauna Galvin and Sibel Tanik (All-CAA first team in singles and second team in doubles) and junior Lizette Reding (All-CAA second team in singles and doubles).
- The Phoenix also welcomes three newcomers in sophomore Miray Konar — a transfer from Western Carolina — and freshmen Madison Cordisco and Helen Sarikulaya. Konar, from Izmir, Turkey, went 7-5 in singles and 10-6 in doubles while playing primarily in the No. 2 spot for the Catamounts last season. A Pittsburgh native, Cordisco was considered a five-star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net. Sarikulaya, from Rockville, Md., was also a five-star recruit and reached as high as No. 7 in the USTA Girls' 18 national standings.
- Elon is led by head coach Elizabeth Anderson, who is in her 19th season at the helm.
LAST TIME OUT
- Elon lost 4-0 on the road against No. 27 Wake Forest in its most recent match on April 2.
- The Phoenix lost a pair of competitive doubles decisions to lose the doubles point.
- Wake Forest's No. 1 team of Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth, the No. 26 ranked doubles pairing in the ITA Doubles Rankings, defeated Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding 6-3 in the No. 1 position.
- Julie Ball and Madison Cordisco fought from a break behind on Court 2 but fell 6-4. The Demon Deacons clinched doubles with the victory.
- Playing No. 3 doubles, Olivia Archer and Miray Konar raced out to an early break lead. However, the first-time pairing did not get the chance finish their match, as Wake clinched doubles with the score at 5-5 on Court 3.
- Wake won on Nos. 1, 2 and 4 singles in straight sets to clinch the match.
- On Court 5, Archer won the first set of her singles match 7-5 and led 3-1 in the second set when the match was stopped.
- Konar was a game away from winning the second set of her singles match on Court 6 when the match was stopped. The sophomore lost the first set 6-2 but led 5-4 in the second.
- Three of Elon's five losses this season have come against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents.
- This was just the second match this season Elon did not win a point and the first since the Phoenix also lost 4-0 against No. 34 Charlotte on Feb. 25.
ARCHER STANDS ALONE
- With a win at No. 6 singles against Radford on March 31, Olivia Archer became Elon's all-time Division I leader in career singles victories.
- The win was the 69th of her career, which broke Frida Jansaker's (2011-14) previous record of 68.
- After posting 19 singles wins in 2022, tied for the third most in a single season in Elon's Division I history, Archer is off to a 14-2 start in 2023 and has won her last 12 matches.
- Archer has lost just three sets in completed matches during her 12-match winning streak.
DYNAMIC DUO
- Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding are 9-5 playing at No. 1 doubles this season.
- The pair has won six of its last eight completed matches. Four of the victories over that stretch have come by either 6-0 or 6-1 scores.
- For the third time this season and second consecutive week, Tanik and Reding were tabbed as the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on March 14.
- Tanik and Reding previously won CAA Doubles Team of the Week on March 7 and Feb. 8.
TANIK ON A TEAR
- Senior Sibel Tanik holds a 26-11 record in the last two seasons at the No. 1 singles position. Tanik's 12 singles victories this season are the second on the team behind Olivia Archer.
- Tanik has won five of her last seven completed matches. She is 3-0 on the season in full third sets.
- Dating back to last season, the senior has won 22 of her last 29 completed singles matches, all in the No. 1 spot.
- Of Tanik's 26 singles victories the last two seasons, 19 have come in straight sets.
- All of Tanik's 37 singles appearances the last two seasons have come in the No. 1 position.
- Tanik's has been named CAA Player of the Week twice this season. The first was on Feb. 1 and the most recent on Feb. 14.
WRECKING BALL
- Julie Ball holds a 11-5 record in singles this season, with all 11 victories coming in straight sets.
- Ball has won 13 singles sets this season by a 6-0 or 6-1 score, the most on the team.
- In six of Elon's 19 contests this season, Ball has been the first player to complete her singles match. She has finished first more than any other Elon player.
- Since joining Elon last season, Ball holds a 23-10 record in singles and has won 17 of her last 23 completed matches.
- The senior is also tied with Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding with a team-best nine doubles wins. Two of the victories came with Olivia Archer and the other seven were with Madison Cordisco.
SARIKULAYA STARRING
- Freshman Helen Sarikulaya has 11 doubles and 10 singles victories this season.
- Seven of Sarikulaya's doubles victories this season have come with Miray Konar. Three came with fellow freshman Madison Cordisco and the most recent was with Olivia Archer.
- Sarikulaya is 4-0 this season at No. 3 singles, while her other six wins have come at the Nos. 2 and 4 spots. The freshman clinched wins for the Phoenix against Campbell and UNC Greensboro with a victory in the No. 3 position.
- Four of Sarikulaya's eight singles victories have come in a deciding set. The freshman is 4-1 in final sets this season.
KONAR CONTRIBUTING
- Sophomore Miray Konar is off to a 7-0 start in singles this season for the Phoenix. Two of the wins have come at the No. 5 spot and the other five were at No. 6.
- After winning her first two matches of the season in a final set, Konar has reeled off 10 consecutive set wins in her completed contests without losing more than three games in any of them.
- Konar is also 7-3 playing No. 3 doubles this season with partners Olivia Archer and Helen Sarikulaya. Konar and Sarikulaya won CAA Doubles Team of the Week twice this season, most recently on March 21.
REDING ROLLING
- Lizette Reding has seven of her last nine completed singles and six of her last eight completed doubles matches.
- All six of Reding's doubles victories over that stretch have come with Sibel Tanik. The duo is 9-5 on the season at the No. 1 position.
- Nine of Reding's 10 singles victories this season have come in straight sets.
- In her last four singles victories, Reding dropped just seven total games in eight sets.
- The junior's 10 victories are tied with Helen Sarikulaya for the fourth most on the team.
HOME SWEET HOME
- The Phoenix is 10-1 in home matches this season, which includes a 6-1 mark at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
- Elon is also 2-0 this season at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center and 2-0 at the Simkins Indoor Tennis Center.
- This is Elon's best start at home since the Phoenix won its first 11 home contests in 2010.
- Elon has won 32 of its 40 completed singles matches in its seven contests at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center this season.

- Hedda Gurholt has a team-high 11 victories this season. All of them have come at the No. 1 spot.
