Buies Creek, N.C.- The Elon Phoenix (27-16, 15-8 CAA) hit the road to take on the No.12/13 Campbell Fighting Camels (31-10, 16-2 Big South) in a midweek clash rematch. The Phoenix welcomed the Fighting Camels to Latham Park one week ago with Elon claiming their second top-ten victory on their own turf. Elon used three eighth inning runs to pull in front of Campbell and would shut the door for another top-25 victory. Campbell will take on the University of North Carolina Tar Heels Tuesday night in Chapel Hill before returning home to face the Phoenix.

The All-Time Series
- Elon leads the all-time series with Campbell, 31-22.
- Elon and Campbell first met in 1962 in a game that resulted in an 11-2 victory for Elon.
- The matchup between the two schools was routinely played throughout the 1960s and 1970s but following a game in 1982, the two would not play again until 1998.
- Before meeting in 2023, the last meeting between the Phoenix and Fighting Camels took place in 2019 when Campbell visited Elon for a midweek contest.
- Campbell was victorious in that matchup by a score of 15-7. Cam Devanney finished the ballgame with a 2-3 performance with two RBI. Adam Spurlin also contributed two hits in the losing effort to the Fighting Camels.
- Elon's largest win against Campbell in the Kennedy era came in 2018 when the Phoenix triumphed in an 11-1 victory.
- The Phoenix had a winning streak against the Fighting Camels of seven consecutive games from 2003-2014.
- This will be the second matchup between the Phoenix and Camels when one of the two is ranked, with the first matchup being earlier this season when Campbell was ranked in the top-10.
- In the matchup earlier this season, Elon claimed its second victory over a top-10 team this season with a 6-5 victory at Latham Park. Scouting Campbell
- The Fighting Camels enter the matchup with the Phoenix having lost their last two games against the Duke Blue Devils and the Phoenix. Campbell enters Tuesday night with a matchup with UNC in Chapel Hill.
- Campbell currently sits at the top of the Big South standings with a 16-2 record against conference opponents.
- Campbell met High Point in their most recent weekend series and jumped on the Panthers for a combined 48 runs over the three games.
- During their recent five-game winning streak, the Fighting Camels have scored in the double-digits in four of the five games, with the lone single digit effort coming against the UNCW Seahawks in a 6-2 win.
- Campbell will face off with the UNC on Tuesday night. This will be the only matchup of the season between the Fighting Camels and Tar Heels.
- Campbell currently has three hitters all possessing a .345 batting average or better. Lawson Harrill leads the charge with a .368 batting average to go along with 13 homers and 44 RBI.
- Tyler Halstead leads the way in batting average, batting at a .377 clip. Halstead is tied for first on the team in hits, first in stolen bases with 27, and second in runs scored.
- The Fighting Camels have four players all with 10 home runs or more including Bryce Arnold and Jarrod Belbin who lead the team with 14 bombs each.
- Jarrod Belbin might be one of the top two-way threats in the country both with power and speed. Belbin currently leads the Fighting Camels in RBI with 47 and has jacked 13 home runs. Belbin is also second on the team with 22 stolen bases on the season.
- Campbell was selected as the preseason favorite in the Big South receiving six first-place votes.
- Both Preseason Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year belong to the Fighting Camels. Drake Pierson was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year with Cade Kuehler being selected as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
- Campbell's skipper Justin Haire is in his ninth season with the Fighting Camels. Campbell has averaged over 30 wins a season since Haire took over and led the Fighting Camels to a Big South Regular Season and Tournament Title a season ago.
- The Fighting Camels are coming off a season where they won 41 games despite losing six of their first seven games in 2022. Campbell entered the Knoxville Regional as the number three seed in the region and picked up a win against Georgia Tech in their first game.

About the Phoenix
- Elon enters this matchup with Campbell following a crucial weekend series victory over the College of Charleston at Patriots Point.
- Elon is currently ranked 53rd in RPI and is ranked 13th in the Mid-Major Power Rankings by 11point7. Elon is one of five CAA members in the top 81 of the RPI poll.
- Justin Cassella concluded his fantastic month of April, a month which saw Cassella enter the month with four home runs and sees him exit the month with 12. Cassella had a monster last two weeks that saw the junior hit eight home runs including two in Elon's game three matchup with the College of Charleston. Cassella now leads the CAA during conference play in both home runs and slugging percentage.
- Cole Reynolds has been an on-base machine this season, having reach base safely in 35 of his last 36 games. Reynolds has an on-base percentage of .422 and a conference on-base percentage of .495 good enough for third best in the conference during CAA play. Reynolds is also batting .372 during conference play and is top five in OPS during CAA games.
- Luke Stephenson has continued to showcase his power that Elon fans saw a season ago. Stephenson now has eight home runs on the season giving him 23 for his Phoenix career. He slashed a career high seven RBI in game two against the Sea Wolves and set a CAA program mark for longest hitting streak by a primary catcher. Stephenson hit safely in 14 consecutive games, breaking the previous mark held by Matt Oldham.
- James Broderick has been a steady glove at shortstop and is coming off his second straight weekend series with at least four hits. Broderick has reached base in six straight games and is currently on a three-game streak. Broderick has found a way on base via the walk all season, he is in the top ten for both overall and conference play in total walks.
- Justin Mitrovich leads all CAA freshman in ERA with a 3.14 clip, good enough for fifth overall. Mitrovich has fanned 51 batters on the season, another freshman category that he leads. Mitrovich earned his fifth win of the season against the Sea Wolves, allowing just two runs while striking out seven and walking none.
- Shea Sprague spearheads the weekend rotation and is still just as dominant. Sprague is fourth in the conference in ERA and is second in strikeouts. The two-time CAA Pitcher of the Week is first in innings pitched and tied for third in wins among qualified pitchers. Sprague set a new career-high against William & Mary earlier this month with nine strikeouts on 109 pitches.
- Elon is third in the CAA in total ERA, but the three weekend starters all have an ERA of under four and all sit in the top ten in the conference in ERA.
- All three starters; Sprague, Sprock and Mitrovich also find themselves in the top 10 amongst CAA pitchers in strikeouts.
- Liam Dabagian continues to be a consistent left-handed arm out of the bullpen. Dabagian has an ERA of 1.30 and a team low whip of .94. Dabagian has allowed just 20 hits in 27.2 innings of work and has walked just six batters.
- Joe Savino continues to make his mark out of the bullpen. Savino has made 18 appearances for Elon and has struck out 56 batters while walking just nine. Savino sits fifth in the CAA in total punchouts and is tops in the CAA among primary relievers.
- Phoenix pitching finds themselves ranked Top-35 nationally in five separate categories. The Phoenix rank: fourth in walks per nine innings (2.82), eighth in strikeout to walk ratio (3.13), 26th in ERA (4.19), 33rd in WHIP (1.35), and 34th in shutouts (2).
CAA Honors
- Freshman Justin Mitrovich was honored earlier this season as the CAA Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Delaware. The rookie hurler pitched seven great innings allowing just three hits, striking out eight and walking none in the winning effort.
- Mitrovich is ranked top 10 in the CAA in wins, ERA and strikeouts among qualified pitchers.
- Following the Monmouth series, Tanner Holliman and Ryan Sprock were both recognized for their performances by the CAA being awarded CAA Player of the Week and CAA Rookie of the Week respectively.
- The redshirt junior caught fire during Elon's six game winning streak clubbing five home runs during the stretch.
- Holliman scored nine runs during the four games and completed the week with seven RBI.
- Freshman Ryan Sprock was awarded the CAA Rookie of the Week award for the third time this season following his week against Monmouth.
- Sprock has been awarded Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks for his performance on the mound and at the plate.
- Sprock went 4-for-8 (.500) against #23 NC State and Monmouth in Elon's 4-0 week. Sprock clubbed three home runs in the week's four games and delivered eight RBI in the four games.
- The six innings were a season high for Sprock and the one walk was a season low.
- Shea Sprague has picked up two CAA Pitcher of the Week awards following his performances against Kentucky and Akron.
- Last season, Elon had six weekly award winners; this season the Phoenix have tallied seven weekly awards with half the season still to play.
Preseason All-Conference
- Elon pitcher Shea Sprague and outfielder/catcher Luke Stephenson were named to the preseason All-CAA team.
- Sprague was one of five pitchers named to the team, while Stephenson earned the designated hitter nod on the team.
- Sprague ranked in the top 76 nationally in ERA, WHIP, walks allowed per nine innings and hits allowed per nine innings a year ago. He was the CAA Co-Rookie of the Year in 2022.
- Stephenson led the CAA with 15 home runs a year ago and ranked in the top seven in the CAA in total bases, slugging percentage, and RBI.
