Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ Â
- It was back-and-forth battle to start the match, a set of kills from Kyla Johnson, Cameron Lanier and Clara LaRue gave the Phoenix a 15-12 lead. Following, a pair of kills from Sydney Love propelled Elon to a 20-16 advantage. However, Hofstra responded by winning seven of the next 10 points to tie the game at 23. The Pride and Phoenix went point for point, but a kill and an Elon error gave Hofstra the first set 35-33.
- Down 12-7 in the second set, Elon went on a 3-0 run to cut the Pride lead thanks to a block from Caroline Berlekamp and Lanier, a kill by LaRue and a Lanier ace. Hofstra extended the lead at 15-13 and led the rest of the way. A late 4-0 run gave the Pride one of their largest advantages of the frame, as they went on to win the set 25-20. Â
- Hofstra went ahead 13-8 in the third, but Elon chipped away at the deficit throughout the set. The Phoenix went on a late run to cut it to three, but would not get any closer, as the Pride took the set 25-21, clinching the match.

FROM HEAD COACH MARY TENDLERÂ
"Starting out on the road in conference is a tough task, but we handled it very well. We had one of our best offensive matches of the young season against a good defensive team. Â We need to do better defensively tomorrow to try to steal a road win."
Â
UP NEXTÂ
