Elon, N.C.- Senior midfielder,
Scott Vatne, has been awarded the CAA Attacking Player of the Week for his performance last Saturday against Northeastern. Against the Huskies, Vatne helped the Phoenix to a crucial CAA victory which sees the Phoenix on the door step of their second CAA Regular Season title in three years. Vatne had a hand in all four of Elon's second half goals in the 4-2 win. His first goal was the opener, giving the Phoenix a 1-0 lead when a pass from
Ryan Manna found him at the edge of the six-yard box. His second goal came from the penalty spot to even the score at two. Vatne added an assist on
Victor Stromsten's game winning goal when he found Stromsten through on goal after blazing past three Huskies' defenders. His fourth goal came direct from a free kick when he beat Northeastern's keeper at the near post to seal Elon's win. This is Vatne's third career CAA Attacking Player of the Week award and his second this season.
The Phoenix hit the road to face Campbell in a crucial, CAA matchup this Saturday in Buies Creek, N.C. A win would see the Phoenix as outright CAA Regular Season champions and have the CAA Tournament go through Rudd Field. Kickoff with the Fighting Camels will be at 7 PM.
