Elon Football Adds Two Transfers

Elon, N.C. – Elon University Head Football Coach Tony Trisciani has added two transfers for the 2025 season. Brodie Carroll (Gainesville, Ga. / Battlefield HS) transfers in from NCAA Division II Shepherd University as a redshirt sophomore and Marcus Mauney (Gastonia, N.C. / Hunter Huss HS) transfers from FCS Yale and Norfolk State as a redshirt senior. Bios for each are listed below.

Prior to Elon:
  • Spent two seasons at Shepherd University, redshirting in 2023 (three games played) before playing in all 11 games in 2024
  • Earned PSAC East Division Freshman Player of the Year honors after ranking fourth on the team with 52 tackles, adding 7.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. Also had a pass break-up and a fumble recovery
  • Had a career-best nine tackles at Seton Hill
  • A 2023 graduate of Battlefield High School where he played for Greg Hatfield
  • Team went 23-2 over final two seasons, winning district championships each season
  • Three-year starter at linebacker and tight end
  • 2022 All-District and All-Region first team linebacker
  • Also played lacrosse and basketball
  • Team captain in both football and lacrosse

  • Son of Steven and Michelle Carroll
  • One brother, Brock, and a sister, Lanie

Prior to Elon:
  • Played at Yale from 2019-23 before transferring to Norfolk State for the 2024 season
  • Redshirted in 2019 before Yale chose not to play in 2020 due to COVID-19
  • Played in three games in 2021, and nine games each in 2022 and 2023
  • Had 26 tackles in 12 games at Norfolk State in 2024, to go with 3.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. Also had two quarterback hurries
  • Had five tackles at Morgan State
  • Three-time all-conference selection, two-time first team All-Gazette at Hunter Huss High School
  • Had 205 tackles, 22 sacks, seven forced fumbles and four blocked kicks in high school
  • Team went 13-1 as a senior and won two conference championships
  • Also played basketball and competed in track & field
  • Two-year team captain in football

  • Son of Antonio and Kimberly Mauney
  • Father played football at Clemson from 1989-92
  • Two sisters, Andrea and Mckynzie
  • Mckynzie is a thrower on the North Carolina track & field team, beginning with the Tar Heels in 2023
  • Valedictorian and Senior Class President at Hunter Huss High School
  • National Beta Club, Scholar-Athlete of the Year
