Blacksburg, Va. – A day after breaking Elon's school record in the 3,000,
Jette Beermann led a spirited team effort in the mile Saturday as the Phoenix concluded action at the Doc Hale Meet, hosted by Virginia Tech.
Beermann, who already ranked second in program history in the mile, set a new personal best time and finished fourth in 4:47.26. Five other members of the Phoenix also posted career-best times in the event.
MILE HIGH
- The defending CAA champion in the mile, Beermann posted the third-fastest time in the conference this year at 4:47.26. She ended fourth out of 53 runners Saturday in the mile.
- Freshman Abby Beville moved into the top ten in program history at No. 8 with a personal best time of 4:54.36 in the mile.
- Hannah Miller (4:56.21), Quinn Smith (5:02.46), Sarah Petitjean (5:04.84) and Cami Glebocki (5:16.44) all set career fastest times in the mile.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Piper Jons ran a season-best 24.45 seconds in the 200 and placed fourth in the meet.
- Linn Hertz Saebboe had a season-best triple jump mark of 11.83m (38-feet-9.75).
- In the 800, Arianna Sakoutis ran a season-best 2:16.66 and teammate Emily Alps also had a season-best time of 2:17.08.
- Elon's 1600 relay team posted a season-best time of 3:54.45 and placed sixth overall.
- In the high jump, Hannah Schonhoff finished fourth, clearing 1.67m (5-5.75).
UP NEXT
- Elon will head to Liberty Friday and Saturday for the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.
- Following that meet, Elon competes in the JDL Last Chance Invitational Feb. 17 for the final meet before the CAA Indoor Track & Field Championship Feb. 22-23.
