Elon, N.C.- A fifth inning home run from
Vince Fattore gave the Elon Phoenix (9-11) an offensive spark, but it was not enough to overcome to the #10 ECU Pirates (15-4) Tuesday evening.

The Phoenix fell to the East Carolina Pirates, 10-1 Tuesday night. This is Elon's second straight home loss which brings the Phoenix to a .500 home record to begin the 2024 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- East Carolina jumped on Elon early with three runs in the top of the first. A Pirate double scored one while a single brought home two runs with two outs.
- The Pirates added another run in the second inning to increase their lead to four.
- The Elon bullpen would quiet the ECU bats in the third, fourth and fifth inning. Tyler Johns, Christo Garrelts and Kolby Pascarelli combined for the three shutout frames.
- Elon struck in the bottom of the fifth with their lone run as Vince Fattore clubbed his third homer of the season to bring the lead back to three.
- East Carolina got the run back and then some in the top of the sixth. The Pirates raided the Phoenix for four runs to break open the contest and give ECU an 8-1 lead.
- The Pirates added two runs in the ninth following a clean inning from Liam Dabagian. The Pirate lead would hold at nine for a 10-1 victory.

- Itai Spinoza made his first start of the season. Spinoza went one inning and allowed three runs.
- Tyler Johns put together a solid two innings while allowing just one hit and striking out one batter.
- Christ Garrelts threw 1.1-innings allowing no hits and striking out a batter.
- Nolan Straniero and Liam Dabagian both threw scoreless frames in the seventh and eighth respectively.
- Shane Paradine finished with a single in the second inning to extend his hitting streak to five games.
- Vince Fattore hit a solo shot to help break him out of a 2-24 batting slump.
- Trey Tiffan singled off the bench for the Phoenix.
- Elon has now lost three straight games at Latham Park to ECU.
