WALLACE, N.C. – Apple Ngamwong earned a runner-up finish at the River Landing Classic on Tuesday after carding a 1-under par 71 in the final round finishing with a 54-hole total of 217 (+1).
UNCW hosted the tournament at the par-72, 6,118-yard River Landing Golf Course in Wallace, N.C.
As a team, Elon shot the lowest round of the tournament in the final round with a one-under par 287. The Phoenix finished second with a 22-over par 886, only five strokes behind James Madison.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Apple Ngamwong shot two rounds of par or better, including a final round of 71 (-1) to finish second with a 1-over par 217. Ngamwong carded three birdies to offset two bogeys in the final round to move up six spots on the individual leaderboard. She led the entire field in pars with 45 while also pacing the team across the board in par-3 scoring (3.00), par-4 scoring (4.10) and par-5 scoring (4.83).
- Annabelle Ackroyd and Ashley Lafontaine finished tied for 16th place with a 224 (+8). Ackroyd shot her lowest round of the tournament in the final round with a one-over par 73 and was second on the team in pars with 38. Lafontaine carded two birdies to offset a bogey on the back nine of her final round and was the only golfer in the tournament to card an eagle in the first round.
- Annie Wu moved up 19 spots in the individual standings after carding three birdies in her final round to tie for 23rd place. In her final round, Wu carded three birdies to offset two bogeys and finished with a team-high eight birdies.
- Lotte Fox shot her lowest round of the tournament with an even-par 72 to move up 18 spots on the individual leaderboard and finished tied for 27th place. Fox finished the tournament with 32 pars and two birdies.
- As individuals, Charlotte Scully and Andrea Asmundsdottir each moved up one spot on the individual leaderboard after the final round. Scully finished tied for 36th place with a 213 (+17) while Asmundsottir carded a 240 (+24) and tied for 50th place.
- Competing as an individual, Sakura Kawakami tied for 59th place with a 249 (+25).
- Phoebe Peng improved her score by 10 strokes in the final round to move up six spots on the individual leaderboard to tie for 61st place.
- As a team, Elon led the field in par-4 scoring average at 4.19 and tied for second in the field in pars with 180.
- The Phoenix has finished in the top-3 in all of their tournaments this spring.

- The Phoenix will compete in their final regular season tournament at the Ironwood Invitational hosted by East Carolina on April 1-2.
