Meet the 2024 Baseball Captains

ELON, N.C. Elon baseball has kicked off the 2024 season and returns to Latham Park this weekend to face UMass. The Phoenix went 18-12 at home in 2023 and will look to bring that energy back to the diamond throughout the rest of the season.

Rising Phoenix sat down with the two team captains ahead of the weekend series.

Liam Dabagian
The lefty pitcher has toed the rubber for the Phoenix for five seasons now, compiling a 7-3 record along the way. He has pitched 92.2 innings and holds a 3.98 career ERA. The redshirt senior has recorded 70 strikeouts in his career.

Q: What are you looking to bring to the table this season in your leadership role?

A: I think I'll try to bring experience. We have a very young team and a lot of younger guys are going to have to pitch for us and provide. So just having myself just bring some experience to the table to kind of lead guys in a certain direction.

Q: What advice do you like to give your teammates?

A: Keep your head up. I mean, baseball's a rough sport. It's a long season, so keeping your head on your shoulders in the right manner is probably the most important part.

Q: What is one word you would use to describe the team and why did you pick this word?

A: I would say energetic. We've got a lot of different characters on our team and guys are coming in and out of the locker room every day with something new.

Connor Offshack
The senior infielder out of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, has quickly made an impact in 2024. He has started in nine games and holds a .225 batting average. He is tied for the team lead in home runs with three and is second in RBI with 16. Over his career, Offshack has tallied 36 RBI and 11 doubles.

Q: What are you looking to bring to the table this season in your leadership role?

A: I'm looking to have everyone be one as a team and work together and really find a way to win together and have fun while we're doing all that, but also bring a CAA championship back to Elon University.

Q: What advice do you like to give your teammates?

A: Have fun. Stick to the plan, trust your abilities and just go do it.

Q: What is one word you would use to describe the team and why did you pick this word?

A: Relentless. Just because of our work ethic and how much work we put in to achieve our goals. And I think that'll take us a really long way.
