Elon, N.C. - After sweeping a doubleheader Friday against William & Mary, the Elon baseball team lost game three of the weekend series, 20-1, Saturday at Latham Park. The Phoenix did earn the series victory heading into the final two weeks of regular season play.
With the win, William & Mary moved to 27-21 on the season and 10-11 in CAA play. Elon falls to 19-27 overall and 8-13 in the conference.
Charlie Granatell went 2-for-4 with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the third.
Troy McGirt and
Tank Yaghoubi each had a hit in the contest. Yaghoubi had at least one hit in each game of the weekend series and went 6-for-9 with three RBI and four runs scored.
Tristan Corcoran and
Trey Tiffan each pitched a scoreless inning on the mound. Tiffan struck out three batters.
Elon will host High Point in a non-conference game Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. looking for win No. 20 on the season.
