ELON, N.C. — The Elon women's basketball team (8-6, 2-1 CAA) secured their first home CAA victory of the season with a 59-51 win over Hampton (4-10, 0-3 CAA) on Friday night, highlighted by a season-high 10 blocks.

THE RUNDOWN
- The teams traded baskets to open the first quarter until consecutive buckets from Jayda Angel, Alyssa Ervin, and Ava Leroux put the Phoenix ahead 10-7 with 3:56 remaining. Both teams added one more score, and Elon held a narrow 12-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- The Phoenix went on an 8-0 run to extend their lead to 20-9 with 7:35 remaining in the half. The Pirates answered with a 5-0 run, narrowing the gap to six at 20-14. The teams traded baskets down the stretch, with Iycez Adams capping the half to give Elon a 26-18 advantage.
- Elon quickly built a double-digit lead at 30-18 with 8:35 remaining in the third quarter. Hampton trimmed the deficit to eight at 30-22, but a jumper from Iycez Adams later extended the Phoenix's lead back to 34-24. The Pirates responded with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to five at 34-29 with 3:35 remaining in the third quarter and later pulled within three at 36-33. The teams traded baskets, and free throws from Hampton brought them within two at 38-36 heading into the final frame.
- The fourth quarter opened with back-and-forth action until an and-one by Hampton tied the game at 42-42 with 7:18 left. The Pirates followed with consecutive baskets to take a 46-42 lead. Jayda Angel responded with a clutch three-pointer to even the score at 47-47, and the teams exchanged points. Angel then delivered back-to-back layups, and Laila Anderson added two free throws to push Elon ahead 55-50 with 1:19 on the clock. The Phoenix secured their 59-51 victory with a series of free throws down the stretch.

- Elon returned the same starters in Iycez Adams, Laila Anderson, Hannah Dereje, Maraja Pass, and Raven Preston.
- Jayda Angel provided a spark off the bench, leading the team with 15 points, along with four rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
- Adams and Ava Leroux also reached double figures, contributing 10 points each.
- Preston led the Phoenix in rebounds with six, while Pass tallied a team-high three steals and five assists.
- Adams set a career-high with five blocks, as the Phoenix recorded a season-high 10 total blocks as a team.
- The last time Elon registered double-digit blocks in a game was in a victory over William & Mary on March 8, 2018, when they tallied 10.
- As a team, the Phoenix outperformed the Pirates in assists (17-9), points off turnovers (20-14), and blocks (10-4).
