SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Elon women's golf team overcame a difficult opening 18 holes at the Terrier Intercollegiate by shooting a tournament-best 4-over-par 292 in the second round Monday at the Country Club of Spartanburg. The Phoenix ended the first 36 holes in a tie for third place at 33-over (311-298 – 609), trailing only ETSU (+17) and host Wofford (+23).
All five golfers in the Phoenix lineup are among the top 30 individually with 18 holes to play, led by seniors
Ashley Lafontaine (+7, 151) and
Annie Wu (+8, 152), who are tied for ninth and 12th, respectively. Sophomore
Kelly Zhao posted the Phoenix's best 18-hole score of the day with a second-round 1-under 71 to finish Monday in a tie for 18th (+10, 154).
