RICHMOND, Va. – The Elon University women's soccer team took home a pair of weekly awards Monday, with redshirt junior
Isa Murdock winning CAA Offensive Player of the Week and junior
Grace Gelhaus earning CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Murdock scored a team-high six points in a 2-0-0 week for the Phoenix. She scored Elon's first goal in a 4-1 victory against Drexel on Thursday and added an assist on
Talia Feigin's second-half tally. Against Towson on Sunday, the forward again scored Elon's first goal on a header before assisting on Gelhaus' game-winner in the second half.
Gelhaus also scored a goal in both Elon victories, both of which were game winners. Her goal against the Tigers came in the 55th minute off an assist from Murdock. The defender logged the full 90 minutes in the win over Towson and helped on both ends of the field as Elon outscored its two opponents this week by a combined score of 7-2.
The weekly honor is the first of Murdock's career. She leads the Phoenix with a career-best 18 points and is currently tied for third in points in the CAA. The redshirt junior now has three matches this season with three-plus points.
This is Gelhaus' second weekly honor after winning CAA Rookie of the Week on Oct. 2, 2023. Gelhaus leads all CAA defenders in scoring with a career-high 15 and has netted the game-winning goal for Elon in each of its last three matches.
Elon wraps up its regular season this week with a pair of games. The Phoenix will travel to face Hampton on Thursday at 12 p.m. before hosting College of Charleston at Rudd for its finale Sunday at 1 p.m.
