EDISTO BEACH, S.C. – The Elon women's golf team closed its 2025 fall season with a runner-up finish at the Edisto Island Invitational, shooting a 3-over-par 287 in Tuesday's final round to secure second place. The Phoenix finished the three-day event at 28-over (294-299-287–880), trailing only host and champion College of Charleston (+19).
Four Phoenix shot 2-over 73 or better Tuesday to finish among the top 11 individually, led by sophomore
Emma Hansen taking third place at 3-over 216 (72-71-73).
Ashley Lafontaine secured her fourth top-10 effort of the fall by placing fifth with a 5-over 218, while
Annie Wu and
Kelly Zhao tied for 11th at 10-over 223.
Wu, a senior, shot Elon's best round of the tournament with a 1-under 70 on Tuesday. She was bogey-free on the back nine holes and carded birdies on holes 5 and 15 to climb 11 spots on the leaderboard during the final round. Hansen caught fire with three consecutive birdies on holes 10-12 to move to 1-under through 12 holes but stumbled by shooting 3-over across the last two holes of her round on 17 and 18. Hansen's third-place finish still marked the best of her collegiate career and gave her two top-10 efforts this fall.
College of Charleston's Molly Harwick (-6) was individual medalist and Charleston Southern's Eugenie Varet (+2) took runner-up.
