ELON – Freshman
Tamia Watkins scored a game-high 15 points while
LaNae' Corbett and
Quinzia Fulmore added 14 each to lead the Elon women's basketball team to a dominant 93-48 victory over Presbyterian in front of an Education Day crowd of 3,224.
The Phoenix shot 65% (37 of 57) from the floor – its best mark of the
Charlotte Smith era (2011-present) – while all five Elon newcomers reached double-figure points, including
Ashanti Fox (13) and
Tyana Walker (10).
Elon improved to 2-1 overall while Presbyterian dropped to 1-2.
THE RUNDOWN
- Elon came out strong, dominating the first quarter with balanced scoring and defensive pressure to build a 29-13 lead. The Phoenix capitalized on turnovers and ball movement, highlighted by Fulmore and Watkins' finishes inside, and back-to-back threes from Fox and Khalil to close the frame.
- Elon maintained momentum in the second quarter, using aggressive defense and quick transitions to build on its lead. Strong contributions from Fox, Watkins, and Kamryn Doty kept the offense flowing, sending the team into halftime ahead 43-22.
- The Phoenix opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run behind layups from Fulmore, Laila Anderson, and Corbett, setting the tone early. Walker buried a three to stretch the margin, while Corbett and Fulmore controlled the glass and the paint. Fox added a deep three off a turnover, and Watkins closed the quarter with a layup to cap another strong offensive frame, leading 65-31.
- Corbett opened the fourth period with a pair of finishes inside, and Anderson and Fulmore kept the offense rolling, before Fox and Ashlee Shaw added big plays down the stretch that pushed the lead past 40. Ruby Willard and Watkins contributed late buckets to capture a complete team 93-48 final.

- The 3,224 attendance figure set an Elon women's basketball record in Schar Center.
- Tamia Watkins' 15 points came off the bench as the Elon rookie reached double figures for the first time in her young career.
- LaNae' Corbett reached double figures for the second straight game with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field. She's one of two Phoenix players averaging double figures this season (10.0 PPG).
- Ashanti Fox was 2-of-2 from beyond the arc on her way to 13 points.
- Quinzia Fulmore flirted with a double-double, leading the team on the glass with seven rebounds, while adding 14 points and two blocks.
- All 12 Phoenix players who played in the win contributed points.
- Laila Anderson and Maraja Pass led the team with five assists apiece, while Kamryn Doty recorded a team-high four steals, matching her career-high.
- Elon dominated the paint, outscoring the Blue Hose 48-16.
- The Phoenix outnumbered the Blue Hose in rebounds (35-20), assists (25-11), steals (6-5) and second-chance points (13-4).
- Elon's 93 points are its most scored against a Division I opponent since racking up 97 in a win against College of Charleston on Feb. 11, 2018.
- Laila Anderson, LaNae' Cobrett, Quinzia Fulmore, Maraja Pass, and Tyana Walker started for the Phoenix.
