BOONE – The Elon men's basketball team delivered a history road performance Monday night, rolling past Appalachian State 88-53 at the Holmes Convocation Center in the first meeting between the former Southern Conference rivals since 2014. The 35-point win marks Elon's largest margin of victory in a road game in its NCAA Division I era (1999-present).

Chandler Cuthrell powered the Phoenix (4-2) with a dominant double-double, finishing with 23 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 7-of-11 from the floor and 9-of-11 at the line.
Randall Pettus II added 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals while
Bryson Cokley posted career highs in points (18) and rebounds (9) off the bench.

Elon set the tone early, using an 18-6 run midway through the first half to seize control. The Phoenix attacked the paint often, outscoring the Mountaineers 26-10 inside before halftime while scoring 15 second-chance points on eight offensive rebounds in the opening frame. Elon led 44-23 at the break and never allowed the advantage to drop below 18 in the second half.

The Phoenix shot 51.6% from the field and held App State (4-3) to 34.7% shooting, including just 7-for-26 in the first half. Elon also dominated the glass with a +20 rebounding margin (45-25) and posted a season-best 46 points in the pain while scoring 14 points off Mountaineer turnovers.

Jalen Tot led App State with 14 points on four 3-pointers, while Michael Marcus Jr. and Alonzo Dodd added nine points apiece.

NOTES
- Elon's 35-point win marks the largest margin of victory in a road game in its NCAA Division I history, breaking the former record of 29 points, set in a 78-49 win at Furman on Feb. 24, 2014.
- The win was Elon's fourth straight against App State dating back to 2013. The two former SoCon foes have met 98 times.
- Ja'Juan Carr tallied a team-high five assists along with eight points and six boards in 28 minutes played.
- Pettus was 3-of-6 shooting from deep. The junior has a 50% clip from 3-point range through six games (21 of 42).
- Cuthrell has scored 20-plus points in both of his double-doubles this season.
- Cokley has shot 65% from the floor (13 of 20) in his past two games.
