The Phoenix attacked the paint often, outscoring the Mountaineers 26-10 inside before halftime while scoring 15 second-chance points on eight offensive rebounds in the opening frame. Elon led 44-23 at the break and never allowed the advantage to drop below 18 in the second half.

The Phoenix shot 51.6% from the field and held App State (4-3) to 34.7% shooting, including just 7-for-26 in the first half. Elon also dominated the glass with a +20 rebounding margin (45-25) and posted a season-best 46 points in the pain while scoring 14 points off Mountaineer turnovers.
