ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's basketball team has been selected to compete in the 2025 Purple College Basketball Invitational (CBI), held March 22-26 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Twelve teams make up the field with the Phoenix opening the tournament on Sunday, March 23 versus Army West Point with tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Other teams competing in this year's field include Cleveland State, Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois State, Incarnate Word, Jacksonville, Manhattan, Northern Arizona, Presbyterian, Queens and UC Riverside.
"We're extremely excited to accept an invitation to play in the CBI," said Elon head coach
Billy Taylor. "The experience playing in a postseason tournament will be invaluable as we continue to move the Elon basketball program forward. The ultimate goal is to make the NCAA Tournament but playing in the CBI is a great step toward achieving that goal. I am grateful to our administration for their support and we look forward to making Phoenix fans proud."
This marks the second time during Elon's Division I history that the Phoenix has advanced to a postseason tournament. The maroon and gold also competed in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) in 2013.
The first and quarterfinal rounds of the tournament will be streamed on FloCollege with the semifinal round telecast on ESPNU and the final round airing on ESPN2.
