Granatell Homers In Midweek Loss To High Point

Elon, N.C.- Elon (8-12) senior Charlie Granatell continued to be a bright spot in the Phoenix lineup as he slugged his first home run in the loss to High Point (16-5) Tuesday night. Granatell finished with the lone multi-hit game for the Phoenix in the 13-3 loss.

How It Happened
  • Elon continued its recent trend of scoring runs in the first inning and the High Point game would be no different. After a leadoff hit by pitch to Jackson Alford, Charlie Granatell took a hanging slider into the trees over the left field wall to give Elon a 2-0 lead.
  • The Phoenix added on in the first with a sacrifice fly from Justin Szestowicki to bring home Alex Duffey from third which gave Elon a 3-0 lead.
  • After the first inning, the game would shift in High Point's favor with a six-run top of the third inning which gave them the lead for good.
  • High Point would add runs in every inning from the fifth inning on which accounted for seven more runs to pull away and win by 10-run rule in the eighth.
