Elon, N.C.- The Elon Phoenix (9-15) fell for the second time this season to the #16 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (20-6). Elon dropped a midweek game at home to the Demon Deacons for the first time in three seasons after two straight wins over Wake Forest at Latham Park.
 
How It Happened

• Hudson Narke got the ball to start the game on the mound and gave the Phoenix a clean frame to start the ballgame.
• After a clean frame in the bottom of the first, the Demon Deacons answered with two runs in the top of the second.
• Elon would find momentum in the second when the 4-5-6 hitters all reached base to begin the inning. Despite loading the bases with no outs, the Phoenix could not bring a run home in the inning.
• Wake Forest would capitalize with three more runs going into the sixth inning with one run in each inning.
• The Demon Deacons continued to score in the sixth and seventh innings, bringing in five runs to run rule the Phoenix in seven.

 
Notes and Stats

• The Phoenix improves to 9-15 on the season.  
• Will Vergantino found a single in the second inning which extended his hitting streak to five games.
• Jackson Alford singled on a bunt and stole a base in the loss. Alford's seventh steal puts him in a tie with Vergantino and Kenny Mallory Jr. for the team lead.
• Hudson Narke got the midweek start for the Phoenix and pitched a clean inning allowing just one hit.
