RICHMOND, Va. (April 2, 2025) – Elon senior women's lacrosse standout
Sammy Fisher has been chosen as the 2024-25 CAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year following a vote of the Coastal Athletic Association's (CAA) Academic Affairs Committee.
Fisher has excelled academically at Elon, compiling a 3.95 grade point average while majoring in sport management. She has been a member of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and the Elon Athletic Director's Honor Roll in every semester and has made the Elon Academic President's List six times. A member of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies, Fisher made presentations at the Sport Marketing Association Annual Conference and the Elon Undergraduate Research Forum. Last June, she was chosen as the women's lacrosse recipient of the prestigious CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence Award.
On the field, Fisher is a four-year starter in the midfield for the Phoenix. She earned second-team All-CAA honors in 2024 after scoring a team-high 37 goals and made the CAA All-Rookie team in 2022. In February, Fisher became just the second player in school history to surpass 100 career goals. She currently ranks among Elon's career top 10 in goals, assists, points, free position goals and draw controls.
In addition to her academic and athletic exploits, Fisher has been actively involved in the Women Influencers In Sport (WINS), a program dedicated to empowering women in the sport management industry. As Vice President of the group, she has played a key role in organizing and selecting speakers for the annual WINS forum.
In honor of her accomplishment, Fisher will receive a $1,000 stipend along with a crystal award.
Each of the 14 nominees for the CAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be recognized with a crystal award.
