ELON, N.C. – After winning its first-ever CAA Softball Tournament title, the Elon University softball team continues postseason play into the NCAA Tournament as the Phoenix will travel to the NCAA Columbia Regional, hosted by South Carolina. Elon opens versus host South Carolina on Friday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m. and will be joined in the region by North Florida and Virginia.
Elon is making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2010, when it traveled to the Athens Regional in Georgia. The Phoenix earned its bid to the national tournament after winning four games last weekend at the CAA Championships, including defeating host school Campbell twice on Saturday for its first league tournament title since 2010.
Kaitlyn Wells was named the CAA Most Outstanding Player of the CAA Tournament after registering a hit in all five contests to go with a tournament-high eight RBIs. She was joined on the CAA All-Tournament Team by teammates
Chloe Hatzopoulos,
Allee Seering and
Meredith Wells.

Regionals will be held May 16-18 with each site hosting a four-team, double-elimination tournament. The 16 winning teams advance to the super regionals.

ESPN will provide coverage from all 16 regional sites on its platforms, which was announced during the NCAA Softball Selection Show.
