LoraLie Cowart Joins Staff As Assistant Coach

Accomplished Collegiate Golfer To Make Coaching Debut With Phoenix

ELON – Elon women's golf head coach Chris Dockrill announced Wednesday that LoraLie Cowart has been hired as the program's assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Cowart joins Elon following a successful collegiate playing career that included three years at Georgia (2021-24), where she earned her undergraduate degree in sport management, and a final season at Georgia Southern (2024-25). She competed in three NCAA Championships (2022, 2023, 2025) and collected multiple individual accolades during her career, including SEC All-Freshman Team, All-Sun Belt First Team and the 2024-25 Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year award.

"We're very excited to add LoraLie to the coaching staff," Dockrill said. "With her NCAA experience, she will bring a high level of expectation to the program. I look forward to working with LoraLie and taking the Elon women's golf program to another level."

In her lone season with the Eagles in 2024-25, Cowart recorded four top-five finishes – highlighted by a fourth-place finish with a 2-under-par 214 at the Sun Belt Championships – and five top-10 efforts overall. She posted a 73.19 season scoring average and played 34 rounds across 12 tournaments, marking the second-most rounds in Georgia Southern single-season history.

"I'm thrilled to join the Elon women's golf program and want to thank Chris Dockrill for the opportunity," Cowart said. "I'm confident that this program, under Coach Dockrill's leadership, has a lot of great things going on and can only grow stronger. It's exciting to be a part of this journey with the Phoenix."

A three-year standout at Georgia, Cowart made an immediate impact for the Bulldogs as an SEC All-Freshman Team selection in 2021-22 and earned lineup spots at the SEC Championships, NCAA Albuquerque Regional and NCAA Championships. As a sophomore, she opened the 2023 NCAA Championships with a 1-under 71 and contributed to the team scoring in two of the three rounds in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cowart then posted a career-best 73.17 scoring average across 35 rounds played in 13 tournaments during her final season as a Bulldog in 2023-24.

A native of Carrollton, Georgia, Cowart was the 2021 Georgia High School Player of the Year at Carrollton High School.
