RICHMOND, Va. – For the second time in three weeks, Elon sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Bisgrove has earned CAA Defensive Player of the Week, as the conference released its weekly women's soccer awards Monday.
Bisgrove helped the Phoenix to a 2-0-0 week with a pair of shutouts in goal. She started her week with a two-save shutout at Queens in Elon's 3-0 victory before making seven stops Sunday night in a 1-0 win at High Point. The seven saves versus the Panthers were just one short of her season high, which she set in the season opener at VCU.
The sophomore goalkeeper has delivered four straight clean sheets, the first Elon goalie to post four consecutive shutout victories since McKenna Dalfonso did so in the 2021 spring season. Bisgrove and the Phoenix have not conceded a goal in the last 373:28 of game time, a streak that started Aug. 14 at VCU. Bisgrove now has 9.5 career shutouts, with four coming this season.
This is Bisgrove's second weekly CAA honor of the season, as she took home Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 18. This is her third career weekly honor, as she was also tabbed as the CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 23, 2024.
Bisgrove and the unbeaten Phoenix return to the field for two games this week. Elon will host NC State at Rudd Field on Thursday night before traveling to face George Mason on Sunday.
