RICHMOND, Va. – Elon sophomore
Emma Hansen was named the Coastal Athletic Association Co-Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday afternoon following her standout performance in the Phoenix's season-opening tournament this week.
Hansen led the Phoenix to a share of the Elon Invitational team title as she tied for fourth place individually with a 1-under-par 212 (70-73-69) in the two-day, 54-hole tournament, held at Alamance Country Club in Burlington on Monday and Tuesday. The weekly conference honor was shared with North Carolina A&T's Ekaterina Prokhorova, who also competed in the Elon Invitational and tied Hansen for fourth place.
Hansen recorded career bests with her fourth-place finish, 54-hole score of 212 and 18-hole score of 69 in the third round. The Burlington, Ontario, native was dialed in from the start with two eagles in the opening round and was bogey-free across the first 17 holes of the third round to help the Phoenix clinch a share of their home tournament title for the first time since 2022.
It's the first time Hansen has collected a weekly conference award.
Hansen and Elon are back in action next Monday and Tuesday with the Red Bandanna Invitational, hosted by Boston College at Blue Hills Country Club in Canton, Massachusetts.
