Elon Wins 19 Matches On First Day Of Fall Season

All Eight Phoenix Post Multiple Wins Friday At Jimmy Powell Invitational

ELON – The Elon University women's tennis team kicked off its 2025 fall campaign Friday by winning 19 of 20 matches across singles and doubles at the Jimmy Powell Invitational. The Phoenix is hosting the event at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

All eight of Elon's players logged at least two victories on the day. The Phoenix won all four of its morning doubles matchups before going 15-1 in two rounds of singles. The Phoenix went 25-3 in completed full singles sets, which included a perfect 16-0 mark in the morning round.

Cornelia Kack, Alexis Nyborg and Nathalie Marinovitch, Elon's three newcomers, all went 3-0 on the day in their debut with the maroon and gold. Nyborg and Marinovitch teamed up for a win in doubles before they each won a pair of singles contests.

Mariana Reding and Madison Cordisco both won all three of their matches, with Reding coming through a doubles tiebreak with partner Simone Bergeron to start the day and a match tiebreak in her second singles bout. Lisa Kranec and Helen Sarikulaya also went 3-0 on the day after their second-round singles opponents retired. Bergeron rounded out Elon's wins with one apiece in doubles and singles.

The Phoenix will wrap up its first fall tournament tomorrow, beginning with two rounds of doubles at 9 a.m. Play will conclude in the afternoon with the final round of singles.
