ASHEBORO – Two Phoenix golfers were tied for third place individually when the first round of the Tot Hill Farm Invitational was called due to darkness at Tot Hill Farm Golf Club. The Elon women's golf team ended Sunday's action in sole possession of sixth place at 14-over-par with all five of its golfers through at least 17 holes of the opening round.
Due to the expectation of inclement weather in the Asheboro area on Monday, the tournament will shift to a 36-hole tournament. The first round will conclude Monday morning, followed by the second and final round. The tournament – originally scheduled for 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday – was already adjusted once with the first round being moved up to Sunday to avoid weather.
Ashley Lafontaine and
Annie Wu are tied for third at 1-under-par heading into Monday. Lafontaine was able to complete the first round prior to darkness with an official 71 in the books, while Wu needs to play the sixth hole to finish her round. The senior duo is only two strokes behind Old Dominion's Barbara Carr, who leads the field at 3-under but has only completed 15 holes.
Lafontaine, who tied for eighth at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational in 2024, had two bogeys in her first four holes but was sharp the rest of the way, shooting 2-under across the final 13 holes of the round.
Emma Hansen and
Lilli Downer shot 6-over 78 and 10-over 82, respectively, as the two other Phoenix to complete the first round.
Incomplete first round results can be viewed on Clippd.
