RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University women's soccer sophomore Katie Bisgrove earned her second straight CAA Defensive Player of the Week award and her third in four weeks, as announced by the conference Monday.
Bisgrove extended her shutout streak to six with a pair of clean sheets against NC State and George Mason this week. She made six saves in Elon's scoreless draw against the Wolfpack before stopping all three George Mason shots Sunday in a 2-0 victory.
Bisgrove is the first Elon goalie to ever record a shutout in six straight games. She ranks in the top 10 nationally in shutouts (6), goals against average (.143) and save percentage (.967). She has not conceded a goal in her last 553:28 of game action.
Bisgrove is also the first Elon player to win three weekly honors in a season since MacKenzie Sisson won Southern Conference Player of the Week three times in 2000. She is the first Phoenix player to earn consecutive CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors.
This is Bisgrove's third weekly CAA honor of the season, as she also took home Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 18. This is her fourth career weekly recognition, as she was also tabbed as the CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 23, 2024.
Elon and Bisgrove will go for a seventh consecutive shutout Wednesday night in the non-conference finale against South Carolina State. Kickoff at Rudd Field is slated for 5 p.m.
