Phoenix Soars Past Campbell

Three Elon Players Reach Double Figures In 68-54 Win

ELON – The Elon women's basketball team used a strong third quarter to create separation and go onto seal a 68-54 win over the Camels Friday night.

LaNae' Corbett led the team with 16 points, while Ashanti Fox (12) and Quinzia Fulmore (10) also reached double-figures.

Elon improved to 12–13 overall and 7–6 in CAA play, while Campbell dropped to 17–10 overall and 10-4 in conference play.

THE RUNDOWN
  • The Phoenix jumped out to a 13-5 lead midway through the first quarter. The Camels cut it to four at 13-9 before a three-pointer from Ruby Willard and a layup by Laila Anderson helped Elon close the quarter ahead, 20-9.
  • Campbell opened the second quarter with back-to-back scores, but Elon answered with three straight baskets to push the lead to 25-16. The teams traded baskets, and late Camel free throws sent Elon into the break leading 29-24.
  • Campbell used a 7-0 run to take a 31-29 lead before a LaNae' Corbett layup tied the game at 31-31. The Phoenix responded with a 9-1 run to go up 40-32 and held a 42-34 advantage at the end of the third.
  • Elon began the fourth on an 8-1 run to build a 15-point lead, 50-35, with 7:55 remaining. Campbell cut the deficit to eight at 54-42, but Elon stretched the margin to 16 and secured a 68-54 victory over the Camels.
NOTES
  • LaNae' Corbett led the team for the ninth time this season with 16 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field while adding two steals and two assists.
  • Ashanti Fox reached double figures for the 11th time this season with 12 points, going a perfect 2-for-2 from three and tying Laila Anderson for the team lead with four assists.
  • Quinzia Fulmore flirted with a double-double, scoring 10 points and leading the team with eight rebounds.
  • The Phoenix dominated the boards, outrebounding Campbell 38-28, and held a 32-11 advantage in bench points.
  • After the Camels shot 50% from three in the first half, Elon held them to 12.5% in the second half.
  • Elon used the same starting lineup of Laila Anderson, LaNae' Corbett, Maraja Pass, Tyana Walker, and Tamia Watkins.
