GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Elon women's basketball team led for most of the game, before North Carolina A&T mounted a fourth-quarter run to secure a 67-61 victory.
Three Phoenix players reached double-figures:
Laila Anderson (14),
Ashanti Fox (13), and
Tamia Watkins (12).
Elon dropped to 10-12 overall and 5-5 in CAA play, while North Carolina A&T improved to 9-12 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
THE RUNDOWN
- Elon jumped out to a 6–2 lead before the Aggies moved ahead 9–6. The Phoenix pulled within one at 11–10, before rookies Ashanti Fox and Tamia Watkins sparked a 7–3 run to close the quarter with a 17–14 lead.
- Elon opened the second quarter on a 7–3 run to go up 24–17, but North Carolina A&T answered with a 7–0 spurt to tie it at 24–24. After trading baskets, Elon closed the half on a 6–2 run behind three-pointers from Fox and Ruby Willard to lead 34–28 at halftime.
- The teams went back and forth until the Aggies tied the score at 42–42 with 2:11 remaining. Elon then went on a 7–2 run to close the quarter and take a 49–44 lead heading into the final frame.
- Elon led 51–48 with 8:18 remaining in the game before North Carolina A&T went on an 8–0 run to take their first lead of the second half at 56–51. Elon later closed the gap to 58–56, but the Aggies extended their lead again to 62–56. The teams traded scores after that, but ultimately the Aggies secured a 67–61 victory.

- Laila Anderson reached double figures for the seventh straight game, leading the team with 14 points.
- Ashanti Fox also added double-figures with 13 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
- Tamia Watkins added 12 points, marking her fifth game this season in double-figures.
- Quinzia Fulmore led the Phoenix on the boards for the second straight game with eight, while Maraja Pass added a team-high five assists.
- The Phoenix outrebounded the Aggies 41–39, including 19–11 on the offensive boards.
- Nine of the 11 Elon players who saw action scored at least two points.
- The Phoenix used the same starting lineup in Laila Anderson, LaNae' Corbett, Maraja Pass, Tyana Walker, and Tamia Watkins.
