WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Elon Phoenix women's basketball team defeated Hampton, 67-62, on Saturday evening in the second round of the CAA Tournament.
Quinzia Fulmore recorded her second straight 20-point performance, leading the team with 22 points while shooting 8-for-12 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Tamia Watkins also reached double figures, recording her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
Elon improved to 16-15 overall and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Championship, where the Phoenix will face No. 3 seed Drexel at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow night.
THE RUNDOWN
- Elon jumped out to a 10-3 lead midway through the first quarter before back-to-back Pirates three-pointers cut it to 10-9. The Phoenix answered with a 6-0 run to go up 16-9, and a late three from Ashanti Fox made it 19-10.
- Hampton opened the second quarter on a 14-2 run to take a 24–21 lead with 6:59 left. The teams traded baskets, with the Phoenix getting within two at 31-29 before trailing 33-31 at the half.
- The Pirates led 37-22 before the Phoenix tied it at 37-37 and later took a 39-37 lead. Hampton answered with a 5-0 run to go up 42-39, but Quinzia Fulmore sparked a 5-0 Elon run for a 44-42 lead. Hampton closed the quarter on a 9-4 run to lead 53-46 after three.
- Hampton quickly pushed its lead to 10 in the final frame at 56-46 before back-to-back Elon baskets cut the deficit to six, 56-50. The Phoenix compiled an 8-1 run to regain a one-point lead at 58-57. The teams traded baskets before Elon went on an 8-2 run to seal a 67-62 win.

- Quinzia Fulmore recorded her second 20-point performance of the season with 22 points while also leading the team with two blocks.
- Tamia Watkins recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points on 7-for-9 shooting and a team-high 13 rebounds.
- Maraja Pass added seven rebounds, one shy of her career high.
- Elon earned its first CAA Tournament win since 2020, when the Phoenix defeated Hofstra in the second round before the remainder of the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The Phoenix dominated the paint, outscoring the Pirates 42-16 and outrebounding them 43-26.
- Laila Anderson, Quinzia Fulmore, Maraja Pass, Tyana Walker and Tamia Watkins started for the Phoenix.
