WILMINGTON – Elon dropped their UNCW series finale Sunday morning, 11-0 in seven innings.
The Phoenix falls to 9-10 and 2-4 in the CAA while UNCW improves to 14-6 and 3-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNCW scored three runs in the first inning and did not look back.
- The Seahawks added a run in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to take a 6-0 lead.
- UNCW put up five more runs in the sixth inning to secure the run-rule win.
QUICK HITS
- Elon falls to 9-9. Elon drops to 2-4 in CAA play.
- Jose Mariano registered the only hit for the Phoenix. Mariano extended his hitting streak to two games in the loss.
- Owen Winebarger tossed three innings out of the bullpen. Winebarger finished his week with more than nine innings pitched. He allowed only one earned run between his outing on Sunday and against No. 10 NC State.
