ELON – The Elon Phoenix women's basketball team defeated UNCW on Saturday evening, closing out the regular season with a strong 66-54 performance in Schar Center.
Quinzia Fulmore recorded a double-double with a career-high 28 points on 13-for-15 shooting and 10 rebounds to lead the team.
LaNae' Corbett reached double figures for the third straight game with 12 points on 5-for-11 shooting, adding three rebounds.
Elon improved to 15-15 overall and 10-8 in CAA play, clinching the #6 seed in the 2026 Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Championship.
THE RUNDOWN
- The Phoenix opened with an 8-2 run in the first quarter, forcing a Seahawks timeout. Elon extended the lead to 15-2 and took a 20-9 advantage at the end of the first.
- Elon pushed its lead to 26-13 midway through the second before the teams traded baskets, with the Phoenix holding a 34–27 lead at halftime.
- The teams traded baskets before UNCW used a 9-0 run to cut Elon's lead to 40-38 with 3:37 left in the third. The Phoenix responded with a 9-2 run and led 49-43 entering the fourth.
- UNCW opened the fourth with a 5-0 run to pull within one, 49-48, but three straight baskets from Quinzia Fulmore pushed Elon ahead. The Phoenix extended the lead to 62-51 with 2:24 left and closed the game at the free-throw line for a 66-54 win.
NOTES
- Quinzia Fulmore recorded her first double-double of the season with a career-high 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team.
- LaNae' Corbett added 12 points going 5-for-11 from the field, marking her 19th game this season in double-figures.
- Laila Anderson and Maraja Pass both led the team with four steals apiece.
- The Phoenix won five straight CAA home games for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
- All five victories during that stretch came by double digits, the first time since the 2016-17 season.
- Elon's 10-4 home record matches the best home record since the 2021-22 season.
- Elon controlled the offensive glass for the 21st time this season, outrebounding UNCW 15-4 on the offensive boards and 38-24 overall.
- The Phoenix dominated the paint, outscoring the Seahawks 46-12, and converted 27 points on 23 UNCW turnovers.
- All five seniors started for the Phoenix in Laila Anderson, Kamryn Doty, Quinzia Fulmore, Maraja Pass, and Ruby Willard.
