RICHMOND, Va. – Elon juniors Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding were selected as the CAA Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week on Tuesday as the conference unveiled its final weekly tennis awards of the season.
Bergeron and Reding went 2-0 playing the No. 1 spot for Elon in wins over Coastal Carolina and UNCG. They won 6-4 against UNCG's top tandem of Sydney Bly and Lauren Thomson on April 8 before a 6-1 triumph against Aida Mitrache and Brooke Rogers of Coastal Carolina on April 11.
Elon's top pairing is up to 11 wins together this spring, the second most on the team. Their win against the Spartans secured a second straight season with double-digit victories together. The duo has won three straight completed matches and four of its last five.
This is the second time Bergeron and Reding have won Doubles Team of the Week together and the first since Jan. 28, 2025. It is Reding's second weekly honor of the campaign after earning CAA Player of the Week on March 3.
Elon finished its regular season with a 14-4 record and will be the No. 1 seed in this weekend's CAA Championship. The Phoenix will open the tournament Saturday in the first semifinal against the quarterfinal winner of Drexel or UNCW at 3 p.m. at the Mackesy Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Virginia.
